研究方向:
团队研究方向为中国森林鸟类的种群生态学、行为生态学和进化生物学,重点是我国青藏高原高山针叶林特有鸟类的起源、进化、行为、生态及保护研究。近三十年来,以斑尾榛鸡(Tetrastes sewerzowi)为主要研究对象,对其生活史、种群动态及保护生物学方面进行了长期、深入的研究。研究组对斑尾榛鸡的性选择机制进行了充分地探究,主要探究斑尾榛鸡的单配制形成与维持机制。斑尾榛鸡采用较为严格的单配制,在繁殖前期雄鸟占据领域,雌鸟通过领域质量来选择雄鸟。除斑尾榛鸡外,还对血雉、黑头噪鸦、鬼鸮和四川林鸮开展了长期的研究工作,涉及到生活史、婚配制度等方面。研究组在莲花山地区以一些雀形目鸟类为研究对象,开展了行为生态学和进化生物学等方向的研究工作,涉及到白腹短翅鸲亚成体雄鸟的羽毛延迟成熟机制研究,以及捕食压力和生境差异对鸟类生活史策略的影响等。近年在鸟类认知行为与性选择机制方面开展了多角度研究。研究结果发表在Communication Biology、The Innovation、Animal Behaviour、Current Zoology、Biological Conservation、AUK、Journal of Ornithology、Wildlife Biology 等SCI 期刊上。
课题组还长期进行野外灰头鸫野外种群行为的研究。在灰头鸫的研究中发现,灰头鸫为单配制,但存在较高比例的婚外配。灰头鸫存在性二型以及羽色的选型配对,这种配偶选择方式说明雌鸟的身体状况会影响对雄性的选择。除了发现灰头鸫具有先行配对的行为模式之外,项目种对于灰头鸫个性的研究中也发现配对个体间会通过增加个性的差异来减少后代繁殖投入的冲突。我们发现灰头鸫的配对后性选择行为与个体的个性特征有显著关联,包括婚外配比例。这些成果为研究红腹锦鸡的性选择机制提供了理论支撑和研究手段的支持。该项目可作为本项目的前期研究基础,所研究的根本理论都是基于性选择对鸟类的繁殖行为模式加以探讨,具备理论的延续性。研究成果发表在Ibis、iScience、Current Zoology、Animal Behaviour、Journal of Ornithology、Avian Research等动物行为学与鸟类学期刊上。
课题组通过笼养鸟进行行为实验来进一步验证理论问题,开展了虎皮鹦鹉的认知行为对性选择的影响研究。研究中已对虎皮鹦鹉个性和认知行为等进行了测定,并在该物种的认知行为和性选择等重要科学问题上取得重大研究成果,相关文章 “Problem-solving males become more attractive to female budgerigars” 于2019 年1月发表在国际顶级期刊Science 杂志上。早在1871 年达尔文就在《人类的来历及性选择》中提出认知能力也可能成为性选择的标准,但科学家们在其它动物身上很难得到确凿的证据来说明这一问题,该工作首次证实了鸟类的认知能力也可以成为性选择的标准,它对人类更好地理解认知的演化提供了重要的启示。
目前研究组正在开展斑尾榛鸡与姐妹种花尾榛鸡的谱系地理学开展研究,利用分子遗传学手段对青藏高原地区孑遗物种的高原适应与隔离形成机制进行研究。结合物种生态位模型对研究物种的第四纪历史分布区进行重构,与谱系关系共同推断物种的分化模式。并对受威胁物种的栖息地状况、破碎化程度、未来分布和保护效益等进行评估,从保护生物学角度提出濒危物种的保护建议。相关研究成果发表于Zoological Research,BMC Genomics,BMC Ecol Evo等动物学、基因组研究相关的SCI期刊。
