　　Prof. Daniel Blumstein是加州大学洛杉矶分校（UCLA）生态与进化系系主任。他是Animal Behaviour，The Quarterly Review of Biology, Behavioral Ecology, Biology Letter, Ethology 和Evolution, Medicine & Public Health等杂志的主编或编辑。他的研究兴趣集中在动物行为与进化、保护生物学、以及行为科学与其他学科的整合。他以北半球广泛分布的14种旱獭和多种哺乳类及鸟类为对象，研究了动物复杂通讯等社会行为的进化。他还强调在物种保护中应重视动物行为研究，提出保护生物学的分支学科--保护行为学，并关注生态旅游与自然保护的关系，积极影响野生动植物保护政策的制定。自1989年以来，他在包括Nature，Trends in Ecology and Evolution，Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences , Proceedings of the Royal Society B在内的诸多杂志上发表论文200多篇，出版专著5部，并开发了行为采集分析软件JWatcher。
